PSEXEC – PATH VARIABLE NOT FOUND

I use the PSEXEC to start the java process in local machine.
When I run the PSEXEC without any user account it works fine.

c:/>psexec java testclass

But when I run with an user account

c:>psexec -u user -p password java test

It gives me the below error

PsExec could not start java:
The system cannot find the file specified

I checked the environemt variable for the the above user and the PATH variable has been properly mapped to the java path.
Could any one help me to resolve this issue.

Why not just provide the full path?

e.g.:

psexec -u username -p pw "C:\Program Files\Java\jre6\bin\java.exe" C:\path\test

I say you would need to copy this file to the server first, or alternatively you could share the file from the build server and reference that in your psexec command.

e.g.

psexec.exe \COMPUTER -u USER -p PASS gacutil.exe -i \buildbox\share\Assembly.dll -f

the only thing to remember is that the remote process (running on your target computer) runs under the context of the system account and you will need to accomidate for this with your network shares

Work Around to use Psexec on Windows Server 2003 64-bit

You can achieve running in interactive mode using below command:

C:\psexec.exe \\%HOST% -i 0 -d -u %ADMINID% -p %ADMINPASSWORD% -w %PATH% cmd /c MyApplication.exe

Above works, if you don't want to capture exit code from the application launched.
