Eagle-how to change footprint

I know its basic but google just doesn't give me anything .

I have Eagle on a mac, i have a design with a few resistors, i would like to change their footprint to 0805 .

The menu is just not showing me this option to see the part footprint.

Right click on a component and go to open device. This will show the symbol and the package.

This only works with library parts that are in the lbr folder of the root eagle directory. If you have your own custom libraries you have to open the library directly.

Also when placing components using the add tool, it shows you a preview of both the symbol and the package.

You probably need the change ("wrench") tool available from the GUI. But it might also worth considering using some Eagle commands for that purpose.

Assuming for example you want to change the thickness of your wires to 30 mil, first you have to select those tracks as usual, then you might issue the following commands:

change width 30 mil
(> 0 0)

The (> 0 0) part simulate the right-click required to apply changes.

If you need to change the thickness of all the wires, this might be scripted even further:

display none top
group all
change width 30 mil
(> 0 0)
display last

Electronic – Eagle clearance issue

I have solved the problem. I will state below what the solution is so that others can learn from it:

I started drawing the package with the dimension layer.. I know, don't do that.
Then I replaced the layer with the silkscreen 21 tplace layer. This is the layer that should be used if the component outline should be visible on the final PCB.
What I should have done is updating my library. I thought I did this, but probably failed to double check.

Now everything works fine. Thanks for the support.
