i'm trying to create an airtight soldered mount for a pipe on a pcb depth sensor board I'm designing. To do this I am trying to create a custom pad in Altium that is a ring and is also plated. I've tried converting the ring to polygons, regions and cutouts. I've not been able to get any of them to become plated.
The picture might make this easier to understand. I want to put a plated ring of some sort in the empty ring as seen above.
Altium should recognize the whole thing as one pad total after the part is placed, although they do appear as seperate entities in the footprint editor.
Have you tried running a trace to it, or an ERC? If it shows up with a misconnected net, or floating copper error of some kind then for whatever reason that the region didn't inherit the properties of the pad that was placed on it.
If that happens try re-creating the last pad in that footprint. As long as the pad you place on the region touches that region it should mark the entire region with that designator.
STEP1: Open the PCB panel.
STEP2: Select on the opened panel "Hole Size Editor" and select needed PAD.
STEP3: Double click the mouse to go into the configuration and change the coordinates so that it was in the field of visibility.
STEP4: Delete!

Why not simply place a full circle (p->u), set the thickness to your desired fitness and the solder mask to 0. The ring will be plated and no soldermask on top.
