Magento 2 Grunt – Compile Less Files with Grunt Errors

After creating my theme I'm trying to compile less files.
but I'm having errors when : grunt exec:exercise1.
I'm using a windows machine.

I have tried so many things to solve this on windows xampp but finally it's working with simple thing: Run CMD command prompt with administrator privilege to run your commands.

I don't know if it's the case, but try to setup your theme settings with real file names on themes.js. For example, if you set "css/styles-m" and "css/styles-l", create less files in your theme.

While your theme has <parent>Magento/luma</parent> in theme.xml, it has inherited all styles.

You need to make sure that you run the commands from your Magento installation directory.

grunt clean: mdl
grunt exec: mdl
grunt less: mdl
chmod 0777 -R var/*
chmod 0777 -R pub/static/* 
chmod 0777 -R generated/* 
Grunt watch
