Magento – Enabling Paypal Pro and Paypal Standard at the same time

I would like to accept Paypal pro credit card orders, and Paypal payments.

The problem is that Paypal Express which is enabled by default with Pro, redirects the customer before they complete the Magento checkout process, which on my site includes further data capture.

I have followed the points here:

This does indeed work for the front end, unfortunately in the back end Magento shows orders as pending payment, even when they are paid. I'm guessing this is because Paypal Standard isn't actually active in the back end, anyone know how I can activate it?

If you do not want to have Paypal Express Checkout button displayed in the shopping cart you can turn it off in the Basic settings of Express Checkout. This will allow to have PayPal mark available on the Payments step only along with Pro. In this case customer will be forced to fill in all the fields before get to the payment page. Also in 1.9 you have an ability to skip order review page for Express and make checkout process even more shorter. See this link.

Pro can be activated with Express only, besides Express API is better than Standard since does not rely on IPN - able to process payment and create order at the same time.

If its an issue of PayPal express showing up when you dont want it to (because of both options enabled) and not being able to disable it specifically, then you can just display none on its class.

Open the template/checkout/onepage/payment/methods.phtml

Where it shows the <input> tag put inside

id="payment_<?php echo $_code ?>"

Then in css you can call the paypal method as something like

(#)payment_paypal_express {
display: none;
}

But dont use the (), it just wont let me use the id character in this text, but you know know what I mean.

I found the "steps to reproduce" and hotfix. Originally we enabled the "Website Payments Standard" payment method and then disabled because we had the problem with "Suspect Fraud" status. Immediately after I disabled the "Website Payments Standard" it turned into "Website Payments Standard (Includes Express Checkout)" and I was not able to revert it back. This behaviour is always reproducible on Magento CE 1.9.1.0

I found out that if I enable the payment method directly in database, it reverts back to the "Website Payments Standard".

This is the query to re-enable it:

update core_config_data 
set value = '1' 
where path = 'payment/paypal_standard/active';

I am not sure why it behaves like that and we have not enable it on production yet because we are still trying to solve the "Suspect Fraud" status problem. We discovered that some of the modules we installed are causing conflicting (Stored Credits, Payment Charge etc) and thus charging incorrect amounts, but that is different story.
