Magento – Magento2.2 language switching not working on catalog pages

I have magento2.2 fresh installation. I enabled two languages I can switch the language/store view on the homepage. also on default pages like create an account, forgot password etc.

But when I am on catalog pages (product,category etc) when I click on the language switcher the page is refreshed but neither the URL changes nor the site language.

In order to update the language on your catalog pages, from the admin side, you have to update the attribute values of your categories and products depending on the corresponding storeview.

For example, to change the language-attribute values of the category named Bags, go to Admin=>Catalog=>Catagories, click on the category named Bags and then change the Store View to your required storeview from the available store views list and provide appropriate values for your category attributes.

Clear cache and check your front-end category page. Same way ,make the changes for your products also.

As @mkotov writes.. the issue is tracked and solved.

For now, if you want, you could go in

magento2/app/code/Magento/Store/Model/Store.php (Magento installation by Github)

vendor/magento/module-store/Model/Store.php (Magento installation by composer)

and replace the second row in

public function getCurrentUrl($fromStore = true)

$requestString = $this->_url->escape(ltrim($this->_request->getRequestString(), '/'));

with

$requestString = $this->_url->escape(
    preg_replace(
        '/\?.*?$/',
        '',
        ltrim($this->_request->getRequestString(), '/')
    )
);

This is a know Magento bug in version 2.2.0 and 2.2.1 (probably 2.1.X as well).

It has been fixed in v. 2.2.2. so you should upgrade.

As a "quick fix", you can change the core file in /vendor/magento/module-store/block/Switcher.php

Change the function getTargetStorePostData() to:

public function getTargetStorePostData(\Magento\Store\Model\Store $store, $data = [])
    {
        $data[\Magento\Store\Api\StoreResolverInterface::PARAM_NAME] = $store->getCode();
        return $this->_postDataHelper->getPostData(
            //$store->getCurrentUrl(false),
