Cisco – Checking advertised routes – BGP

For IOS-XE and Junos, I wanted to know the command that displays the routes advertised by BGP to neighbors. On IOS-XR, this command is 'show bgp advertised'.

I know on XE, per neighbor based advertised routes can be checked. But I want advertised routes to all the neighbors combined.

UPDATE: Confirmed with Cisco TAC – for Cisco IOS-XE, there is no such command to view routes to ALL the neighbors. It can only be per neighbor based.

For Junos, the command is "show route advertising-protocol bgp 'neighbor'".

According to the XE command reference:

show ip bgp neighbors 'neighbor' advertised-routes

Let's assume that you are in a bash shell on the quagga router... use the script command to capture output from quagga (or any other interactive CLI session)... a contrived example which saves the quagga bgp routes to a file named bgp_routes.txt

$ script bgp_routes.txt
Script started, file is bgp_routes.txt
$ telnet localhost 2605
... authenticate as required
Router# terminal length 0
... run show ip bgp command
Router# exit
$ exit

BGP Route in Routing Table Seen as Valid but Not Best – Troubleshooting

The show ip bgp vpnv4 neighbors 1.1.1.1 received-routes shows all routes received from the neighbor before routing policies are applied (and as such doesn't show best-path information). To see which routes are accepted and possibly installed use the show ip bgp vpnv4 neighbors 1.1.1.1 routes command.

Also the received-routes command is only available if soft-reconfiguration is configured for the neighbor.
