Centos – Install apache 2.4 and php7 on centos 6

I would need to install / compile apache 2.4 and PHP7 to work together on Centos 6 (specifically on 6.5). I've tried the ius packages, but while apache 2.4 works correctly, it seems that php7 still depends on apache 2.2. By trying to compile php7 by myself, if I configure the build by flagging with --with-apxs2 what I get is a:

Configuring SAPI modules
checking for Apache 2.0 handler-module support via DSO through APXS...

Sorry, I cannot run apxs.  Possible reasons follow:

1. Perl is not installed
2. apxs was not found. Try to pass the path using --with-apxs2=/path/to/apxs
3. Apache was not built using --enable-so (the apxs usage page is displayed)

but unfortunately I don'see any apxs support by installing httpd24u. Any hints?

PHP 7 is available in the Remi-Repository: http://blog.remirepo.net/post/2015/03/25/PHP-7.0-as-Software-Collection

For Apache 2.4 you can use the Software Collections ( SCL ) Repository https://www.softwarecollections.org/en/scls/rhscl/httpd24/

Your custom-compiled PHP should have installed pecl, and configured it properly.

Have you tried running "pecl install apc"?

If your system is not finding pecl, it's probable that you used some funny --prefix when you ./configure'd PHP.

For instance, if you compiled php like this:

$ ./configure --prefix=/foo
$ make
# make install

then you'll either want to get /foo/bin into $PATH, or you could just run

$ /foo/bin/pecl install apc

EDIT: Now I remember: try pecl install apc-beta. Something is screwy with 5.3.3 and non-beta APC. My experience is apc-beta works fine.

You can build httpd-2.4 from source, first of all you need to upgrade apr/apr-util to at least 1.3.0

checking for APR version 1.3.0 or later... yes
checking for APR-util version 1.3.0 or later... yes

Build and install apr-1.4.8

# ./configure --prefix=/opt/apr-1.4.8
# make
# make install

Build and install apr-util-1.5.2

# ./configure --prefix=/opt/apr-util-1.5.2 --with-apr=/opt/apr-1.4.8/ --with-crypto --with-openssl=/usr --with-ldap --with-ldap-include=/usr/include/ --with-ldap-lib=/usr/lib64/
# make
# make install

Build and install apache-2.4.6

# ./configure --prefix=/opt/httpd-2.4.6 --with-apr=/opt/apr-1.4.8/ --with-apr-util=/opt/apr-util-1.5.2/
# make
# make install

I would suggest do not touch system apr/apr-util packages
