FreeBSD how to rebuild all p5-* Perl 5 ports

Here's a lightly-tested solution:

find /usr/ports -type f -name pkg-plist -path '*/p5-*' -exec egrep -l $regex {} + | sort -u | sed -e 's|/usr/ports/||' -e 's|/pkg-plist||' | xargs portinstall

Now, this won't detect modules installed by ports which don't have a pkg-plist but they're very much in the minority. There's only 58 out of 4188 p5-* ports on my system which don't have pkg-plist files.

You are very close. Try this instead:

make all-depends-list

That will recurse through all dependencies and print them for you. To test different build scenarios and how they affect the dependency list, try things like:

make NOPORTDOCS=yes NOPORTEXAMPLES=yes all-depends-list

make WITHOUT_X11=yes all-depends-list

Here is the full set of dependency print targets:

all-depends-list
build-depends-list
run-depends-list
package-depends-list
pretty-print-build-depends-list
pretty-print-run-depends-list
