I am going through an existing HAProxy config file and trying to make sense out of it. I am new to HAProxy. What does the following line do?

reqirep ^Host:\ 180.115.110.100 Host:\ www.foo.com

It replaces lines matching Host: 180.115.110.100 with Host: www.foo.com in the HTTP header in a case insensitive way. See also the documentation.

You can attempt to do this using the "redirect" option in HAProxy.

redirect prefix http://server1/domains/

However, it is a redirect, so it will not be transparent.

I do not believe HAProxy can rewrite URLs transparently (on their way to the backend servers).

HAProxy reqirep setting results in 504 Gateway Timeout

Cyril from the HAProxy mailing list pointed out that the regex was removing the HTTP/1.1 and HTTP/1.0 from the request. He suggested the following (which worked):

reqirep ^([^\ ]*)\ (.*)/directory/?\ (.*)       \1\ \2/target.asp\ \3
