I need to activate notification email on IBM WebSphere Network Deployment when the application servers are out of sync.

I do not think this is possible since every time you make a change to your master configuration you need to synchronize with the node agent to apply it to the application servers. It is not a defect but a natural situation when you make changes to your (distributed) architecture.

In case you have problems with synchronization you can just set up Automatic synchronization or else examine your synchronization strategy.

If you can change your password depends on the repository used. However you can try to deactivate security by issuing

wsadmin -conntype NONE
wsasmin>securityoff
wsadmin>$AdminConfig save

Restart your deployment manager afterwards. However turning your security off opens also the applications deployed in Websphere.

Alternatively you could try to decode the password.

The only time in which we're asked to put our DMGR in a seperate box is when my company deployed what IBM calls "stacked" products, like Websphere Process Server. In that case, that setup is quite complicated, to say the least, with the DMGR JVM doing quite a bit of work.

One thing NOT to do, however, is put the DMGR in a different box in a different OS. You're just asking for trouble in terms of the extra maintenance you will have to deal with.
