Linux – How to configure networking on CentOS 6 running on hyper-v

I'm not using legacy adapters, and i've installed Linux Integration Components 3.2.

THe problem i'm facing is that the command 'setup' or 'system-config-network' doesn't list any network interfaces. If i run ifconfig -a i can see both the network cards i've attached. By setting a ip using ifconfig i can get network connectivity. The problem is that it's not persistent after a reboot.

I'm a 100% centos newbie, but I figure it has something to do with that the centos installer couldn't see the NICs on install.

How can I fix this?

Have a look in /etc/sysconfig/network-scripts/ifcfg-eth0 there should be a line that says ONBOOT=yes which causes eth0 to be configured when the system starts.

As of GNU coreutils 7.5 released in August 2009, sort allows a -h parameter, which allows numeric suffixes of the kind produced by du -h:

du -hs * | sort -h

If you are using a sort that does not support -h, you can install GNU Coreutils. E.g. on an older Mac OS X:

brew install coreutils
du -hs * | gsort -h

From sort manual:

-h, --human-numeric-sort compare human readable numbers (e.g., 2K 1G)

I've fixed this by adding noapic to the kernel options in grub.conf

This has enabled the legacy network adapter to work properly. I'm currently downloading the Development Tools package to allow me to install the Hyper-V enlightenment drivers and then I'll try removing that option again.

EDIT: Success!

After installing the development tools, then the integration components version 3.2 and removing the noapic option, the machine is now able to use a synthetic adapter. It's important to remove the noapic option before rebooting after installing the integration components, or you get a kernel panic at boot.
