Linux – How to downgrade OpenSSL to 1.0.0 in Ubuntu

How can I downgrade OpenSSL to 1.0.0 in Ubuntu?

I have installed Ubuntu 12.04. Sadly, there is a problem with OpenSSL 1.0.1 and I would need to downgrade to version 1.0.0.

How can I do it the easiest way?

When I run:

sudo apt-cache madison openssl

Only versions 1.0.1 get listed.

apt-get has a feature called Pinning, which addresses your problem. Details can be found in this how-to

As of GNU coreutils 7.5 released in August 2009, sort allows a -h parameter, which allows numeric suffixes of the kind produced by du -h:

du -hs * | sort -h

If you are using a sort that does not support -h, you can install GNU Coreutils. E.g. on an older Mac OS X:

brew install coreutils
du -hs * | gsort -h

From sort manual:

-h, --human-numeric-sort compare human readable numbers (e.g., 2K 1G)
