Linux – How to limit log file size in Apache2

Log files in /var/log/apache2/ are too big.
I want to limit the file size.
Is it possible to store only the recent 100 lines?

You can save a logfile per day and delete old ones automatically with a cronjob. The lines can be done with a limitation of the file size (I think it is not necessary of it will be 120 or 100 lines?).

As of GNU coreutils 7.5 released in August 2009, sort allows a -h parameter, which allows numeric suffixes of the kind produced by du -h:

du -hs * | sort -h

If you are using a sort that does not support -h, you can install GNU Coreutils. E.g. on an older Mac OS X:

brew install coreutils
du -hs * | gsort -h

From sort manual:

-h, --human-numeric-sort compare human readable numbers (e.g., 2K 1G)

Nginx – apache/nginx html file size limit

I've managed to download a 1GB HTML file from nginx 0.8.28 without any problems. Are you using gzip compression? You may need to set appropriate gzip_buffers size or even disable it at all, if the HTML files are so big.
