I installed Jetty 8 to my Debian server. When I added jetty to update-rc.d, it gives following warning. What is this and should I care about it?

insserv: warning: script 'jetty.sh' missing LSB tags and overrides

This warning means that your script misses special text comment which specifies services which your service depends on, runlevels on which it should be started or stopped (including ordering), etc.

jetty is currently just support by debian sid. Debian sid is the unstable branch, which will become the new stable on the next release. You could try to backport the package to your current system but this is not a trivial task.
You can use dpk -i pkgname to install a single debian package. Missing dependencies are not automatically installed, so this is not exactly what apt-get would do.

The easiest way to install jetty would be to download the binary package, extract it and start the included startscript. If you want it to be started on reboot you could write a init-script to do that.

If I understand correctly you need to replace this line

ProxyPass /blog http://foo.com/blog

with this line

ProxyPass /blog/ !

This instructs the apache2 server to not to proxy anything that starts with /blog which is I think is what your want.
