Linux rdesktop ERROR recv Connection reset by peer

PROBLEM

I use for remote desktop connection script rdesktop. On some machines I get common error without any value.

What can I do after "Connection reset by peer" error?

SOLUTION

From time to time I forget this setting. The vast majority of it means "Turn off Remote Desktop with NLA".

Set on target "Microsoft Windows (WIN)"

run SystemPropertiesRemote.exe
deselect "Allow connections only from computers running Remote Desktop with NLA"
try to connect from linux client

I would've run

# netstat -anp

and

# lsof -n

To see if there's a connection or filehandle-leak going on. I would suspect that the connections or files aren't closed properly, and that it has passed 1024 open files after a while (which is the default limit of open files at once, unless changed with ulimit) - which again would prevent it from creating new connections.
