Nagios – How to display specific monitors for a specific user/contactgroup while these monitors will also be displayed to the Admin team

I have a Nagios server which monitors many servers, a number of the servers is used for QA matters.
I'd like to allow the QA team access to the Nagios UI and i want them to be able to view only monitors which are related to their work.
More than that, these servers which i want the QA team to monitor should be displayed for the admins group as well (as it is configured at the moment) in addition to the QA team.
Is that doable?

At the moment, the QA are able to see all hosts/services which are configured on Nagios and not only the ones i specified in hosts.cfg which is what i'm trying to change.

Users are only able to see hosts (and the associated services) for which they are contacts.

If you make your 'admins' group the default contact for hosts/services (e.g., in your base templates), you can then add the QA team as contacts to the hosts that you want them to see.

Any good rsnapshot nagios plugins

i cannot really answer about rsnapshot but i use rdiff - similar tool.

there is couple of things i monitor with nagios for my backups:

what was exit code of last rdiff run. if it's not 0 - it means that something went wrong in the process. i just have simple bash script that executes bacup and depending on result touches file ok or failed. with nagios i check freshness of OK file and alert if it's older then 25h.
before running backup i touch file in /xyz/touched . on server that receives the backup i check freshness of that file. if it's older then 25h it means last night backup did not arrived to the receiving machine.
rdiff has verify option. i dont know if rsnapshot has. verify takes lot of time, i run it once a day and put result to a file... then simple nagios plugin greps this log file in search for error messages.

in this way i protect myself against interrupted backups and against file system corruption on receiving server ( for files not modified for long time ).

the trick is not to let nagios plugin do heavy lifting ( eg verifying the whole backup ), but rather schedule cron job that does that and have nagios plugin just checking result of the job ( eg file created or content of log file ).

define a group containing the contact

define contactgroup {
    contactgroup_name       somegroup
    members                 somedude
}

when you define a host, include the contact_group

define host {
    host_name       someserver.example.org
    contact_groups  somegroup
    address         1.2.3.4
    use             generic-host
    notifications_enabled           1
}

create a password for this user:

htpasswd /etc/nagios3/htpasswd.users somedude

(/etc/nagios3 might not be the right directory depending on your install)
