OpenVPN client doesn’t have “use default gateway on remote network” option

I am on Windows 8.1.

Trying to follow the advice from https://superuser.com/questions/178674/setting-vpn-to-go-through-certain-ips-and-not-others/178675#178675

VPN network I have is TAP Adapter OAS NDIS 6.0 from OpenVPN Technologies, Inc.

Please, advice, why I don't see "use default gateway on remote network" option here or how can I achieve the same result.

The option you are looking for is not in the network adapter settings. It is in the OpenVPN configuration, which is located at C:\Program Files\OpenVPN\config\openvpn.ovpn. The exact filename depends on your setup.

You need to set the appropriate server side settings to push the default gateway to the clients. This isn't really a client side setting. Although I suppose you can manually modify the routing table on the client but that's not something that the average user will put up with.

OpenVPN bridge: remote clients don’t see local

The most likely you forgot to enable forwarding. Add net.ipv4.ip_forward=1 to /etc/sysctl.conf, then sysctl -p or restart. Also try to add following to OpenVPN config:

server-bridge 172.20.200.2 255.255.255.0 172.20.200.100 172.20.200.200
push "route 172.20.200.0 255.255.255.0"

Note that adding interface to bridge, sets promisc flag appropriately. Bridge interface need not to be in promisc mode.

I got the same setup running, but on OpenSUSE, TAP interfaces are created during startup and OpenVPN just opens them - no start/stop script in OpenVPN.
