PHP 5.4.3 configuration with Apache 2.2

Recently I downloaded php 5.4.3 , Apache 2.2 and mysql 5.5.24.

How I will configure these things manually in my windows7. I found some tutorials.

In that they are telling need to add these line in apache conf file

AddType application/x-httpd-php .php
LoadModule php5_module "c:/php/php5apache2_2.dll"

But in my php 5.4.3 folder I can't found any files named like this. I downloaded it from php.net website.

Is there any manual available for configuring all these things.

Please help me.

Configuring your web stack manually isn't trivial. I suggest rather installing WAMPServer, which incorporates Apache, MySQL and PHP in an easy installer. It will correctly configure the file handlers for you as well, so you won't have to worry about manually configuring Apache to serve your PHP files.

The latest version of PHP bundled with WAMP is version 5.3.10, which is more than recent enough to handle pretty much anything you can throw at it. PHP 5.4 is barely a couple of months old; unless you require specific PHP 5.4 functionality, there really isn't any reason not to stick with version 5.3.10.

Full installation instructions for PHP 5.4 with WAMP are beyond the scope of this answer, so I'll provide a link for instructions instead. Summarised, you install WAMP, then extract PHP 5.4 into the correct PHP directory within WAMP.

code/data/workfile segmentation and permission enforcement

code: a directory where you keep your executable files: this directory HAVE to be accessible but MUST NOT be writable by the user running apache (www-data or httpd in different systems) (php_admin_flag engine on)

disabling .htaccess files: one third of a time, site 'hacks' are only about rewriting .htaccess files, so it's like a privilege escalation. Also speeds up Apache if it does not have to check if any .htaccess file is residing in _any_ level of the path being served.
introducing non-obstuctive restrictions in PHP, like
- disabling non-used functions (system, exec at the beginning),
- introducing open_basedir (strictly stating directories where php exec is not allowed)
- php_admin_flag engine off in Directory / and allowing only specific dirs (or better, specific files)
- display_errors strictly OFF
- with virtualhosting many sites, it's becoming handy if one introduces a sendmail wrapper, in order to watermark every outgoing letter, making easier to find which virtualhost floods the system with spam
and of course avoiding common errors like including a GET/POST variable

A simple sendmail wrapper:

Linux – PHP not being parsed in apache2, php module is installed and enabled

When I do the same grep of my config files, I get one line you didn't:

/etc/apache2/mods-enabled/dir.conf:3:          DirectoryIndex index.html index.cgi index.pl index.php index.xhtml index.htm

Make sure this line in /etc/php5/apache2/php.ini is set this way:

; Enable the PHP scripting language engine under Apache.
engine = On

If you change it, restart Apache:

sudo apache2ctl restart
