Can anyone please tell me where i can find the config_ip_nf_nat_local and other netfilter counters in ubuntu?

I am using version Ubuntu 12.04.3 LTS.

The obvious question is why do you need this deprecated kernel option?

The option CONFIG_IP_NF_NAT_LOCAL enables support for NAT of locally originated connections and it was available for Linux kernels 2.6.0–2.6.10. It was removed as it violates TCP/IP standards.

In RFC 5735 is defined that network 127.0.0.0/8 can't be routed outside of the host:

127.0.0.0/8 - This block is assigned for use as the Internet host loopback 
address. A datagram sent by a higher-level protocol to an address anywhere 
within this block loops back inside the host. This is ordinarily implemented 
using only 127.0.0.1/32 for loopback. As described in [RFC1122], Section 
3.2.1.3, addresses within the entire 127.0.0.0/8 block do not legitimately 
appear on any network anywhere.

I believe that Ubuntu places volumes for extra drives under /media/ and not /mnt/ like other linux distributions.

You can type mount from the command line to find out where everything is mounted.

You can stop it outputting the version of Nginx and OS by adding

server_tokens off;

to a http, server, or location context.

Or if you want to remove the Server header completely, you need to compile Nginx with the Headers More module in, as the header is hard coded in the Nginx source, and this module allows changing any http headers.

However, there are many hidden ways servers perform by accident via their implementation which may help identify the system. e.g. How it responds to a bad SSL request. I don't see a practical way of preventing this.

Some of the things I might suggest:

change error templates
block all ports except the services needed
