Ubuntu – postfix, dovecot 2, mailman, dovecot-lda on same domain, config does not work anymore

dovecotmailmanpostfixUbuntu

this configuration used to work but after updating to Dovecot 2 (Ubuntu 12.04) mails to mailman get not delivered anymore:

Instead of delivering to mailman, I get a bounce for non-existing user mailinglist@my.host.tld

mm.cfg is also pretty straightforward:

MTA='Postfix'
POSTFIX_STYLE_VIRTUAL_DOMAINS = ['my.host.tld']

Dovecot is configured to authenticate only users via mysql – but the mailman aliases are identical. The domain is a postfix virtual domain.

Any hints where to look? What to test?
It used to work with the identical configuration, but now I'm using dovecot-lda from dovecot 2.0 and it does not work anymore, but It can also be a another problem, some configuration change.

Best Answer

It's not a dovecot issue or a Postfix issue. It was a problem related to the delivery of messages for mailman. I'm still not sure why it once worked but I've got it now working:

Mailman Doc Entry for this Problem

If I follow all these steps and add the newly generated transports-mailman file to Postfix it works.
