Upgrade Path from OS X 10.5.7 to OS X Snow Leopard Server

I purchased an iMac back in March 2009 and it came with OS X 10.5.5 and I have been updating it since. I see that I can upgrade the OS to "Snow Leopard" for $29.99 but……

I would like to upgrade up to OS X Snow Leopard Server, instead of the regular OS X, and was wondering if anyone knows if this is A) such an upgrade path exists and B) what the cost would be?

To the best of my knowledge, there is no upgrade path from OS X to OS X server and there never has been.

You would need to purchase the full version of OS X 10.6.0 Snow Leopard Server. The cost for this would be $499 for the unlimited client version.

I had the same issue - the fix was to recompile ruby to be 64-bit instead of 32.

You can check to see what architecture your ruby uses like this:

> file `which ruby`
/usr/local/bin/ruby: Mach-O 64-bit executable x86_64

If it reports i386 instead of x86_64 - then you probably have the same issue.

(before recompiling mine was "Mach-O executable i386")

Kind of a pain because after this you'll need to recompile/reinstall any gems w/ native extensions. I haven't done this yet, but I saw somewhere that you might be able to do it "easily" using sudo gem pristine --all

Install ColdFusion 9 into MAMP Pro on OSX

Try unzipping the wsconfig.jar file (found in {cf_root}/runtime/lib/wsconfig.jar). Therein you should find the stock 32-bit version of mod_jrun.so connector. Try using that one to replace the one that Apache is having trouble loading. That seems to have worked for other people who have had this problem
