Use OCS 2007 without Certificates

Quick question

Everyone using OCS2007 will be internal. We have no need for certificates. Is there a setting I can use to disable Certificates?

Everything was working fine in Communicator right up until the time I wanted to add another SIP domain. Now I am having trouble with the certificates for the secondary SIP domain.

How can I disable using Certs altogether?

After playing around I think I found it. Does't work with automatic login, but it works.

In Communicator Client, goto Tools->Options. Fill in the manual details and use TCP

In Office Communicator Server 2007 Settings, right click on your pool->Properties->Front End Click the add button. Select TCP from the drop down.

The GAL client copy is stored by default in: \Documents and Settings\UID\Local Settings\Application Data\Microsoft\Communicator

You can force a refresh by exiting Communicator, deleting that file, then restarting Communicator. This should be logged in the client computer's Application event log. However (from memory) the address book is only generated on the OCS server every 24 hours so you may need to check for issues there too. There may be a connectivity issue with Exchange.

You might need to convert the p7b cert to the PEM format but this can be handled using openssl:

openssl pkcs7 -print_certs -in certificate.p7b -out certificate.pem

As for hosting multiple certs on a single Apache reverse proxy using virtual hosts, you will need a little bit more wizardry there. You will need to use SNI.
