Windows – Does PHP for Windows work with VC10 (Microsoft Visual C++ 2010 SP1)

My system is Windows 7 x86. Im going to install Apache 2.4.2 VC10 from Apache Lounge and it requires Visual C++ 2010:

Be sure that you have installed the Visual C++ 2010 SP1
Redistributable Package x86.

While PHP 5.4.4 VC9 x86 Thread Safe (as stated on PHP for Windows page) requires Visual C++ 2008:

The VC9 versions require you to have the Microsoft 2008 C++ Runtime
(x86) or the Microsoft 2008 C++ Runtime (x64) installed.

Seems i have to install both. Can PHP work only with Visual C++ 2010 SP1?

The page you are referring to (Apache Lounge) clearly says that it will work:

Note: a VC10 binary loads VC10 and VC9 modules.

Works with the PHP 5.4, 5.3 and 5.2 handlers (php5apache2_4.dll) below and the binaries from windows.php.net

i finally managed to install apc with the help from here. i installed on IIS7

added to end of php.ini

[PHP_APC]
extension=php_apc.dll

apc.shm_segments=1
apc.optimization=0
apc.shm_size=128
apc.ttl=7200
apc.user_ttl=7200
apc.num_files_hint=1024
apc.mmap_file_mask=/tmp/apc.XXXXXX
apc.enable_cli=1

tho i got no idea what the configuration does

Windows 7 SP1 Installation Failed with C0000034

I've had this exact same problem on two of our customers computers. This thread has been of some help to me, but I still haven't figured out whats causing the error.

Update: I spent almost two hours on the phone with Microsoft Tech Support on this issue. The support tech had me do the following steps:

Boot into Windows Recovery and choose command prompt then run the following commands:
Reg load HKLM\BaseSystem C:\Windows\System32\config\SYSTEM
Reg Delete "HKLM\BaseSystem\CurrentControlSet\Control\Session Manager" /v SetupExecute
Reg add "HKLM\BaseSystem\CurrentControlSet\Control\Session Manager" /v SetupExecute /t REG_MULTI_SZ
Reg unload HKLM\BaseSystem
Restart the Computer.
