Windows Server 2008 Thin Client-Google Chrome issue

I work in a school system, and there is a thin client lab where 30 clients connect to a win2008 standard server, all using the same username. All clients were able to successfully launch chrome. After another admin reinstalled chrome using the new msi installer, only one client can launch chrome. Is there a workaround to get chrome running again on all clients?

If you are running this on a server with the Remote Desktop Services role (which it sounds like) you need to install the program one of two ways. You can either:

Run change user /install from the command prompt, then install the program, then run change user /execute

You can install the programs from the "Programs" applet in Control Panel. This will automatically change the modes as required.

The WinSxS directory doesn't take up nearly the space reported by Explorer since it uses Hard Links to physical files, not actual files. Explorer just has issues reporting the size of hard links.

As to your actual disk usage problem - You can try to run COMPCLN.EXE to see if you can clean up any old service pack and hot fix files, which should help quite a bit. I would also look at any logging directories to see if theres something else going on.

I've never used RRAS, so my answer will be a bit generic, sorry.

I'm a bit unclear as to whether "no rest of the network either" meant 10.255.6.x or 192.168.88.x. Obviously if the machines in the 192.168.88.0/24 network can't communicate with each other, that's the first thing you'll want to tackle, since then they can't access the RRAS server itself.

Maybe you could describe what selections you made in the RRAS wizard, as well as produce the output of the following commands from one client and the RRAS server:

ping 192.168.88.1
ipconfig /all
route print
nslookup www.google.com
tracert -d 10.255.6.61
tracert -d www.google.com
arp -a
