C# equivalent for c++ vector or deque

I am almost certain this should be a duplicate but I searched for some time and could not find the answer. What should I use in C# to replace C++ vector and deque efficiently. That is I need a structure that supports direct indexing effieciently and also supports delete from one or both ends(depending on vector or deque case) again in an efficient manner.

In java I usually use ArrayList at least for vector but for C# I found this source that states:
ArrayList resizes dynamically. As elements are added, it grows in capacity to accommodate them. It is most often used in older C# programs.. So what is the new way to do this? And again what do I do for the deque case?

There's no built-in Deque container, but there are several implementations available.

Here's a good one from Stephen Cleary. This provides O(1) operations to index and also to insert at the beginning and append at the end.

The C# equivalent to Vector is List<T>. Indexed access is O(1), but insertion or removal is O(N) (other than Inserting at the end, which is O(1)).

There is no such thing as C# 3.5 - the cause of confusion here is that the C# 3.0 is present in .NET 3.5. The language and framework are versioned independently, however - as is the CLR, which is at version 2.0 for .NET 2.0 through 3.5, .NET 4 introducing CLR 4.0, service packs notwithstanding. The CLR in .NET 4.5 has various improvements, but the versioning is unclear: in some places it may be referred to as CLR 4.5 (this MSDN page used to refer to it that way, for example), but the Environment.Version property still reports 4.0.xxx.

C++ – How to find out if an item is present in a std::vector

You can use std::find from <algorithm>:

#include <algorithm>
#include <vector>
vector<int> vec; 
//can have other data types instead of int but must same datatype as item 
std::find(vec.begin(), vec.end(), item) != vec.end()

This returns a bool (true if present, false otherwise). With your example:

#include <algorithm>
#include <vector>

if ( std::find(vec.begin(), vec.end(), item) != vec.end() )
   do_this();
else
   do_that();
