Delphi can’t find System.dcu; what should the default path settings be

Got this error whenever I try to compile something: "F1027 Unit not found: 'System.pas' or binary equivalents (.dcu)".

Got it after installing a component, removed it, reinstalled RAD studio, but still same.

In order to get it fixed, I need the Library path and browsing path. Please anybody post yours so I get it working.

A workaround I found is including the path "$(BDS)\lib\win32\debug" to Library path, but this is not the correct way. So I need your paths. Thanks!

This is from the HKLM\Software\Embarcadero\BDS\8.0\Library key in the registry - you can save it to a .reg file and then import it (making any necessary fixes to the paths first, of course):

If plain import of the above registry file does not help:

Reboot and try again;
If the problem persists, delete Software\CodeGear\BDS\7.0 branches from both
HKEY_CURRENT_USER\ and HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\ hives and reinstall Delphi;
Never run automatic installation procedure for unknown component packages on your working system.

Delphi can’t find units in the library path

It seems the problem was the length of my system path. I shortened it by removing references to earlier Delphi versions and some other obsolete stuff and reinstalled Delphi, and now everything works as before.

PS: After shortening my system path, I tried to build my test project before reinstalling Delphi, but that didn't work. Maybe something went wrong during the install, which may or may not have been caused by the length of the system path. I can't say with absolute certainty that it was the system path that caused the problem, but it seems the most likely candidate.
