Delphi – TOpenDialog in Delphi – how to open only file with given name

User should open only "KLADR.DBF" file. I'm setting "Filter" property to "kladr.dbf" and dialog shows only required file, but in the same directory there are another ".DBF" file (STREET.DBF) and user can open it by typing it's name in "Filename:" edit box. How can I prevent this and let users select only required "KLADR.DBF" file?.

TOpenDialog has an event OnCloseQuery. Provide an event handler that checks for the validity of the name, and if the app shouldn't accept the name then show a message to the user and set CanClose to False.

I don't want to say it's impossible but considering the amount of ugly winapi hacks you'd probably involve I suggest "recreating the dialog with some 3rd party components" but with ~~VirtualShellTools~~.
VirtualShellTools can be downloaded from this SVN archive.

(At least it has the filename autocompletion combobox though i am not sure if it has the places bar). Hope it helps.

if you use delphi 2010 then you can use tdirectory.getfiles first add ioutils.pas to uses clause then write the following line of code in the event handler(in addition to code you already have in that event handler)

    for Path in TDirectory.GetFiles(OpenPictureDialog1.filename)  do
        Listbox1.Items.Add(Path);{assuming OpenPictureDialog1 is the name you gave to your OpenPictureDialog control}
