Eclipse – MANIFEST.MF (The system cannot find the path specified)

I am trying to create the project as set out in the tutorial "http://crunchify.com/how-to-build-restful-service-with-java-using-jax-rs-and-jersey/". I have followed all the steps but I get thee POM error ….

I've noticed that I have 2 Web Content folders: One under Deployed Resources, which does contain my MANIFEST.MF file and another at the same level as the Deployed Resources folder. Eclipse seems to be looking for it in the second WebContent folder where it is not located. Is there a simple fix for this?

I had similar problem and updating the Maven project solved it.

In Eclipse, right click on the project > Maven > Update Project

This situation returns when I do a maven clean.

Eclipse – Sorting by type in Project Explorer in Eclipse

Double check you are not using "Project Explorer", it sorts alphabetically. BUT,

"Package Explorer" sorts files the way you want.
"Navigator" also sorts the way your asking and will show hidden files in OSX and Win folders.

You can access these views via Window->Show View->Other

Well, finally I got it.

First of all, I did what khmarbaise pointed out. I moved applicationContext.xml to the resources folder. War plugin webResources are meant to work with external resources, and filtering a file in the destination folder itself was not the best practice. I updated the POM to reflect the new configuration

            <directory>src/main/resources</directory>
            <filtering>true</filtering>
        </resource>
    </resources>

and

        <plugin>
            <groupId>org.apache.maven.plugins</groupId>
            <artifactId>maven-war-plugin</artifactId>
            <version>2.2</version>
            <configuration>
                <webResources>
                    <resource>
                        <filtering>true</filtering>
                        <targetPath>WEB-INF/context</targetPath>
                        <directory>src/main/resources/WEB-INF/context</directory>
                        <includes>
                            <include>applicationContext.xml</include>
                        </includes>
                    </resource>
                </webResources>
            </configuration>
        </plugin>

So, half of the credit to him. But that's was not enough, it still didn't work. I realized that Maven/m2e was indeed filtering my file, but it didn't get my defined properties files. After some testing I found out that m2e is ignoring the activeByDefault option in the profiles activation section.

So, I added my default profile to the project Maven configuration and then it worked
