Excel – Import Excel sheet to access table with different column names but same data type.

Folks,

I am learning access, but have sufficient experince with .net. The below utility has to be developed in access.

I want to upload/import data from an excel sheet to an access table which does not have same column names. I cannot change the name of the columns in access table as the table is kind of template for some other imports from excel sheet.

Can it be done at all. If yes please share a way that can be done.

What all options do I have in it.

Make it two steps:

1) Import the Excel sheet into Access with whatever table name you want.

2) Create an append query that then takes each field from your Excel-generated table and maps it to the relevant field in the target Access table.

This will help particularly if you are doing this process regularly

There is no import aliasing mechanism in Java. You cannot import two classes with the same name and use both of them unqualified.

Import one class and use the fully qualified name for the other one, i.e.

Excel – Import to Excel from Access table based on parameters

You can do this without VBA, just by using MS Query (works in Office 2010, I can't check against '07):

in Excel go to the data ribbon and click the From other sources icon
click From Microsoft Query
select MS Access Database*
browse for and select your database.
in the wizard select the columns you need to import
on the next page select the column you want to filter on
select the type of filter you need, i.e. Equals
instead of selecting a value in the next box enter [Parameter please Bob]
enter you sort on the next page
select Return data to Microsoft Excel and finish

MS Query will ask you for the parameter, then Excel will ask you how and where you want the data. and your filtered data will appear.

Now each time you refresh the data you will be asked the parameter again, so you can easily change it.
