Javascript – How to make the maven jetty plugin aware of an additional web directory

I would like to use src/main/javascript as the source directory for my javascript files while still using src/main/webapp for most other web files but the maven jetty:run plugin does not know about this directory by default.

The following is as far as I've gotten so far but it does not seem to make Jetty aware of my javascript directory:

So i'd amend your configuration as follows:

The basic solution is:

function capitalizeFirstLetter(string) {
  return string.charAt(0).toUpperCase() + string.slice(1);
}

console.log(capitalizeFirstLetter('foo')); // Foo

Some other answers modify String.prototype (this answer used to as well), but I would advise against this now due to maintainability (hard to find out where the function is being added to the prototype and could cause conflicts if other code uses the same name / a browser adds a native function with that same name in future).

If you want to work with Unicode code points instead of code units (for example to handle Unicode characters outside of the Basic Multilingual Plane) you can leverage the fact that String#[@iterator] works with code points, and you can use toLocaleUpperCase to get locale-correct uppercasing:

  first.toLocaleUpperCase(locale) + rest.join('')

console.log(
  capitalizeFirstLetter('foo'), // Foo

According to the documentation, naming entries declared in the jetty.xml are supposed to be jvm or Server scoped:

As you can see, the most natural config files in which to declare naming entries of each scope are:

jetty.xml - jvm or Server scope

WEB-INF/jetty-env.xml or a context xml file - webapp scope

So your jetty.xml should contain something like this:
