Javascript – In jQuery, how to select an element by its name attribute

I have 3 radio buttons in my web page, like below:

<label for="theme-grey">
  <input type="radio" id="theme-grey" name="theme" value="grey" />Grey</label>
<label for="theme-pink">
  <input type="radio" id="theme-pink" name="theme" value="pink" />Pink</label>
<label for="theme-green">
  <input type="radio" id="theme-green" name="theme" value="green" />Green</label>

In jQuery, I want to get the value of the selected radio button when any of these three are clicked. In jQuery we have id (#) and class (.) selectors, but what if I want to find a radio button by its name, as below?

$("<radiobutton name attribute>").click(function(){});

Please tell me how to solve this problem.

This should do it, all of this is in the documentation, which has a very similar example to this:

$("input[type='radio'][name='theme']").click(function() {
    var value = $(this).val();
});

I should also note you have multiple identical IDs in that snippet. This is invalid HTML. Use classes to group set of elements, not IDs, as they should be unique.

You can apply this CSS to the inner <div>:

#inner {
  width: 50%;
  margin: 0 auto;
}

Of course, you don't have to set the width to 50%. Any width less than the containing <div> will work. The margin: 0 auto is what does the actual centering.

If you are targeting Internet Explorer 8 (and later), it might be better to have this instead:

#inner {
  display: table;
  margin: 0 auto;
}

It will make the inner element center horizontally and it works without setting a specific width.

Working example here:

#inner {
  display: table;
  margin: 0 auto;
  border: 1px solid black;
}

#outer {
  border: 1px solid red;
  width:100%
}

<div id="outer">
  <div id="inner">Foo foo</div>
</div>

With flexbox it is very easy to style the div horizontally and vertically centered.

#inner {  
  border: 1px solid black;
}

#outer {
  border: 1px solid red;
  width:100%;
  display: flex;
  justify-content: center;
}

<div id="outer">
  <div id="inner">Foo foo</div>
</div>

To align the div vertically centered, use the property align-items: center.

Note: Using stopPropagation is something that should be avoided as it breaks normal event flow in the DOM. See this CSS Tricks article for more information. Consider using this method instead.

Attach a click event to the document body which closes the window. Attach a separate click event to the container which stops propagation to the document body.

$(window).click(function() {
  //Hide the menus if visible
});

$('#menucontainer').click(function(event){
  event.stopPropagation();
});
