Javascript – Remove all special characters except space from a string using JavaScript

To remove a property from an object (mutating the object), you can do it like this:

delete myObject.regex;
// or,
delete myObject['regex'];
// or,
var prop = "regex";
delete myObject[prop];

    "ircEvent": "PRIVMSG",
    "method": "newURI",
    "regex": "^http://.*"
};
delete myObject.regex;

console.log(myObject);

If you'd like a new object with all the keys of the original except some, you could use the destructuring.

console.log(newObj);   // has no 'regex' key
console.log(myObject); // remains unchanged

All browsers since IE9+ have trim() method for strings:

" \n test \n ".trim(); // returns "test" here

For those browsers who does not support trim(), you can use this polyfill from MDN:

That said, if using jQuery, $.trim(str) is also available and handles undefined/null.
