Maximum limit of items in ssrs 2005 multi-value parameter

I am using SSRS 2005. I have one parameterised report. I am using 3,4 cascading parameters. my last parameter can have upto 5000 values in it. I want to know that what is the maximum limit of multi-value parameter becuase when i select deselect some parameters I got one error "Operation is not valid due to the current state of the object." I wonder if it is due to lot of values in one of the parameter.

Please guide.

I can't find a source for a hard limit of number of parameters but to be honest if you're using 100s I think you're going to run into usability issues first.

I'd suggest grouping the options by one or two more cascading parameters that narrow down the range if that's possible for your application.

Just add additional query string parameters.

For example, to pass the parameters

MachineID:  Machine1, Machine2, Machine3, Machine4

to a report named Folder\MyReport on a server named server, you would use the URL:

http://server/reportserver?%2fFolder%2fMyReport&rs:Command=Render&Date=2009-06-01&MachineId=Machine1&MachineId=Machine2&MachineId=Machine3&MachineId=Machine4

What is your security apparatus here? It seems to me a solid and secure solution would be to drive the access to data based on the user account. How is the report data gathered? Is it SELECT directly in your data set? Are you calling procedures? selecting against a view?

EDIT: Since you are selecting against a VIEW which unions the respective company data, if you grant rights to the views to the users or roles which have access you may be able to create a scenario where the data is returned to the user based on their rights.
