Publishing Flash video streaming

What options do I have to publish Flash video from webcams other than Adobe's Flash Media Server and Red5? I would prefer a solution in .NET, Python or PHP but can't find anything.

Besides another commercial product, like Wowza Media Server, you could go with a CDN (Content Delivery Network), like Limelight Networks or Voxel.net. You might even be able to find a local hosting provider that would serve up live Flash video for you.

(Live Flash video in a non-trivial thing to do, so the options are a bit limited.)

Give Wowza a try! I've only used it for webcam recording, but the experience was very seamless, a far cry from Red5. Plus as a developer you can use the full Wowza for free AFAIK, so you don't have to take my word for it. It's easy to install, they have good code samples, it really gave me a good impression.

Another interesting fact is that Wowza is made by ex-Adobe/Macromedia engineers who used to work on FMS.

I'd recommend not using images2gif from visvis because it has problems with PIL/Pillow and is not actively maintained (I should know, because I am the author).

Instead, please use imageio, which was developed to solve this problem and more, and is intended to stay.

Quick and dirty solution:

For longer movies, use the streaming approach:

with imageio.get_writer('/path/to/movie.gif', mode='I') as writer:
