R – How to automatically open a file for edit in perforce, if writing a read-only file in vim

Except that in addition to the solution presented there, I want vim to only ask for confirmation if the file is still read-only.

In other words, if I do :w, I do not want vim to say that the file is read-only. It should automatically open the file for edit using perforce, and only if the file is still read-only should it then ask for confirmation.

Command

:%s/<Ctrl-V><Ctrl-M>/\r/g

Where <Ctrl-V><Ctrl-M> means type Ctrl+V then Ctrl+M.

Explanation

:%s

substitute, % = all lines

<Ctrl-V><Ctrl-M>

^M characters (the Ctrl-V is a Vim way of writing the Ctrl ^ character and Ctrl-M writes the M after the regular expression, resulting to ^M special character)

/\r/

with new line (\r)

And do it globally (not just the first occurrence on the line).
