Powershell: Reload the path in PowerShell

If I have an instance of PowerShell ISE running and I install something that modifies the PATH or I modify it in any way outside of PowerShell then I need to restart PowerShell for it to see the updated PATH variable.

Is there a way to reload the path from within PowerShell without restarting it?

$env:Path = [System.Environment]::GetEnvironmentVariable("Path","Machine") + ";" + [System.Environment]::GetEnvironmentVariable("Path","User")

If, some time during a PowerShell session, you need to append to the PATH environment variable temporarily, you can do it this way:

$env:Path += ";C:\Program Files\GnuWin32\bin"

If you need your path to be called before standard one, insert it at the beginning

$env:Path = "C:\Program Files\GnuWin32\bin;$env:Path"

System.Reflection.Assembly.GetExecutingAssembly().Location¹

Combine that with System.IO.Path.GetDirectoryName if all you want is the directory.

¹As per Mr.Mindor's comment:
System.Reflection.Assembly.GetExecutingAssembly().Location returns where the executing assembly is currently located, which may or may not be where the assembly is located when not executing. In the case of shadow copying assemblies, you will get a path in a temp directory. System.Reflection.Assembly.GetExecutingAssembly().CodeBase will return the 'permanent' path of the assembly.
