Wamp server error. could not execute run action

I am trying to start wamp serve which was totally running fine on my laptop two weeks ago, but now after two weeks I suddenly get this error:

could not execute menu item(internal error)[exception] could not execute run action: the directory name is invalid

When I click on wamp, then I go to apache, then I select service then test port 80 and this is what I see:

when I write localhost, it goes there but when I click on Localhost and phpMyAdmin, i get this error:

WAMP is trying to open your browser, but the directory in the settings is not correct. It could be that your browser is now located somewhere else. To fix this:

Edit the file wampmanager.conf inside your wamp direcotry.
Replace the full file path under the [main] section for the navigator parameter
Save the file
Right-click on the wamp icon and select refresh
Try it now

The server offline has no relation to your problem.

Click on the icon in the system tray, and check that Apache and MySQL are on. You do this from

Apache>Service>(check that start/resume service is disabled)

MySQL>Service>(check that start/resume service is disabled)

If Apache is not on, click start/resume service. If it still doesn't come on, click on Test port 80 This should tell you if port 80 is blocked (usually Skype blocks it. In that case, exit the program blocking port 80, start Apache and then you can resume the program that you terminated earlier)

If Apache is on, and the icon is still orange, it means MySQL is either (a) off or (b) running independently.

If MySQL is off, turn it on in the same way you would have done for Apache

and put in the proper password and port for your mySQL instance

WAMP error: Forbidden You don’t have permission to access /phptheadmin/ on this server

Change the file content of c:\wamp\alias\phpmyadmin.conf to the following.

Note: You should set the Allow Directive to allow from your local machine for security purposes. The directive Allow from all is insecure and should be limited to your local machine.

    Options Indexes FollowSymLinks MultiViews
    AllowOverride all
        Order Deny,Allow
        Allow from all
</Directory>

Here my WAMP installation is in the c:\wamp folder. Change it according to your installation.

Previously, it was like this:

    Options Indexes FollowSymLinks MultiViews
    AllowOverride all
        Order Deny,Allow
    Deny from all
    Allow from 127.0.0.1
</Directory>

Modern versions of Apache 2.2 and up will look for a IPv6 loopback instead of a IPv4 loopback (your localhost).

The real problem is that wamp is binding to an IPv6 address. The fix: just add Allow from ::1 - Tiberiu-Ionuț Stan

    AllowOverride all
        Order Deny,Allow
    Deny from all
    Allow from localhost 127.0.0.1 ::1

This will allow only the local machine to access local apps for Apache.

Restart your Apache server after making these changes.
