Vba – Microsoft Common Controls missing

I got a strange issue with my new PC, running Windows 7 x64 and MS Office 2013 x64:
On my other Notebook (Windows 8.1 x64/Office 2013 x64) i've created an MS Access DB, that uses the Microsoft Treeview control Active-X.
I cannot find this control on my PC and therefore not open the DB on the PC but only on my Notebook. The MSCOMCTL.OCX was missing on my PC, so i copied it from my notebook, placed it in the SysWOW64 folder and registered it with regsvr32 (both 32 and 64 bit) but still no Treeview (same for Listview or any other VB6 Active-X control).
I've searched the net for clues and found much info, but nothing helped (including Object Library Not Registered When Adding Windows Common Controls 6.0).

When i manually add the MSCOMCTL.OCX reference to a new Access DB (by opening VBA Editor ==> Extras ==> References), the "MS Windows Common Control 6.0 (SP6)" appears in the reference list, but still no Treeview control available.

I don't know what else to do…

Any info about this are appreciated!

You have to use a 32 bit version of Access. There is no x64 bit version of the common controls.

It's best that you just abandon your search for a Microsoft solution. They haven't updated the common controls for 64-bit. Your best options are to create your own ActiveX Control by wrapping the Date And Time Picker Control from .Net or communicate using COM and expose the features that you want, or use one of the custom VBA solutions that can be found on Ron de Bruin's Calendar/Date Picker page.

I've used this one - Calendar Control for All Office versions - including Office 2010 64 bit

but this one looks better IMO - A Pop-up Calendar for Excel 2007 and up

Even if you can get it running on your machine, if you work at a large company, like myself, you'll never get IT to deploy the fix to everyone.

our Business-ERP-Software Faktura-XP got the same problem since yesterday, we investigated the Problem and created a Patch for it, maybe it will help someone:

In our Case, the TreeViewControl stopped working, but it will be the same Problem with Automatition. Microsoft updated the MSCOMCTL.OCX to Version 2.2, if the Key {831FDD16-0C5C-11D2-A9FC-000F8754DA1} has an empty 2.1 or 2.0 Entry the Common Control will stop working. Solution: Delete Key 2.0 and 2.1, leave 2.2, unregister the mscomctl.ocx and reregister it.

Our Patch will do exactly this, nothing more, nothing less, but as simple as possible for our customers, just click Next and Close.

is freshly created when register the new MSCOMCTL.OCX (Version 6.1.98.46) via REGSVR32

When there is a SubKey named 2.1 it enters a reference that 2.2 is now the Key for use.

If there is a 2.1 SubKey with nothing in it, your Object will fail to create because it will use the 2.1 Version, can't and didn't check for 2.2 Version.

Delete this Key if neccessary and youre good to go.

Further Testings shows that 2.0 SubKey is obsolete and could cause Problems.

Mostly Systems with Microsoft Windows 7 had this Problem. For our Software, no-one with Windows 8.1 or Windows 10 called a Problem after the current Update.
