How to switch the signed in user in Visual Studio 2013

A new feature of Visual Studio 2013 is the ability to sign in with a Microsoft Account and have your settings be persisted across all of your instances of Visual Studio, amongst other things.

When I installed Visual Studio 2013 Preview I signed in with one of several Microsoft Accounts I hold.

I've now installed the RTM version of Visual Studio 2013 (after uninstalling the Preview version) and that has kept my previous user sign in credentials.

I would now like to change these sign in credentials to be a different Microsoft Account but every time I attempt to sign in with the new details I receive a message similar to the following

We were unable to establish the connection because it is configured for user olduser@old.com but you attempted to connect using user newuser@new.com. To connect as a different user perform a switch user operation. To connect with the configured identity just attempt the last operation again.

The problem is I can't find any documentation anywhere on how to perform a "switch user operation". Maybe I'm just not looking hard enough but hopefully someone here can help me out.

There is a comment about this under this answer, but I think it's important to list it here. If you want to preserve your settings, export them first because they will be lost.

From MSDN forums - since I had to hunt around far too much to find the solution to this:

Close Visual Studio
Start the Developer Command prompt installed with Visual Studio as an administrator.
type 'devenv /resetuserdata' ('wdexpress /resetuserdata' for Express SKUs)
Start Visual Studio Normally.

Worked for me.

Visual Studio 2012 (Full)

HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\VisualStudio\11.0\General
DWORD: SuppressUppercaseConversion
Value: 1

In PowerShell, you can run this to set that registry key and the uppercase goes away.

Set-ItemProperty -Path HKCU:\Software\Microsoft\VisualStudio\11.0\General -Name SuppressUppercaseConversion -Type DWord -Value 1

Visual Studio Express 2012

The above registry key is not the one that will affect Visual Studio Express 2012 RC. A comment by FormatC showed up on Banks post about the key for Express. You can find that key mentioned in Mike Gleason's answer or run the following PowerShell command to set it.

Set-ItemProperty -Path HKCU:\Software\Microsoft\VSWinExpress\11.0\General -Name SuppressUppercaseConversion -Type DWord -Value 1

Visual Studio Express 2012 for Web

Set-ItemProperty -Path HKCU:\Software\Microsoft\VWDExpress\11.0\General -Name SuppressUppercaseConversion -Type DWord -Value 1

Visual Studio 2013

Replace 11.0 with 12.0 in the registry keys above.

Visual Studio 2015 Developer Preview

Replace 11.0 with 14.0 in the registry keys above.

.net – How to get TypeScript working with Visual Studio 2013

I found a question on here with an answer that almost worked. But after changing some things around I was able to get this working. These steps slightly deviate from the original, which can be found here.

Close Visual Studio.
Install Visual C++ Redistributable for Visual Studio 2012 Update 3 x86 version (even if running on an x64 platform; tsc.exe is an x86 application).
Download TypeScript for Visual Studio 2012 version 0.9.0.1
Uncompress/Extract the MSI file to a temporary location using https://code.google.com/p/lessmsi/
Copy the directory SourceDir\Microsoft SDKs\TypeScript to %ProgramFiles(x86)%\Microsoft SDKs
Copy the directory SourceDir\VS11_EXTENSIONS_DIR\TypeScript to %ProgramFiles(x86)%\Microsoft Visual Studio 12.0\Common7\IDE\Extensions\Microsoft
Copy the the two files in the SourceDir\VS11 folder (file.ts, newtypescriptfileitems.vsdir) to %ProgramFiles(x86)%\\Microsoft Visual Studio 12.0\Common7\IDE\NewFileItems
Copy the folder SourceDir\MSBuild\Microsoft\VisualStudio\v12.0\TypeScript to %ProgramFiles(x86)%\MSBuild\Microsoft\VisualStudio\v12.0
Modify your path environment variable to include %ProgramFiles(x86)%\Microsoft SDKs\TypeScript
Start visual studio.

These exact steps led to me being able to work with full TypeScript support in Visual Studio 2013 Preview and Visual Studio 2013 Express for Web. A big thanks goes to the dude who posted this answer.
