I often find myself wanting a commit from a GitHub repository as a patch file. Is there any way I can do this through GitHub's web UI and get an output like git-format-patch? I'd like to be able to do this without cloning the repository, like how GitLab has Options -> Email Patches when viewing a commit.

Github is going to use the first address listed in your Account Settings/Email Addresses.
Right now the only way I know to change the primary email address that is used, it to delete the email addresses above the one you want to use, then add them back after the email address you want to use is at the top.
I ended up writing a Chrome Extension to make this far simpler. None of the steps in the question are required any longer, as the initial page contains a link per the screenshot below. Source on github.

Add .patch (or .diff) at the end of the commit URL:
