To provide context to this question, you are asking is it possible to remove the link to Cognito Forms that appears below the form when you send out a link to the form. This is what this looks like:
So the answer is yes and no, so I will explain both.
Yes, if you embed your form on your own website the Powered by Cognito Forms link, along with the Report Abuse and Terms of Services links, will not appear. This is the immediate and best answer to your question.
No, you cannot remove these links at the bottom when the form is actually displayed on https://www.cognitoforms.com. The reason for this is we must alert the user filling out the form that Cognito Forms is hosting the form but is not responsible for the content. This is our obligation, along with the opportunity for users to report abuse. We tried to clearly separate these links from the rest of the form, but still need them to appear and be close enough to be effective. Having said this, I will make the Powered by Cognito Forms link open in a new window (like the other two already do), which should alleviate the issue you reported.

You configure email notifications and confirmations in Cognito Forms via Submission Settings, which is accessed on the green footer on the Build page or by clicking on the submit region of the form. Here is the help documentation for this feature:

Notifications can be sent to anyone, registered users or not, and you can include multiple email addresses. Confirmations are sent to the individual filling out the form, so are limited to a single email address. You can optionally include all form entry data, include a detailed receipt, and even include form fields in a custom subject and message for your notifications--lots of options.
The WordPress plugin just provides an integrated experience, but is definitely not required. Cognito Forms is a fully hosted service, so nothing actually runs within WordPress, and all emails are processed using Mandrill, an enterprise transactional email service by MailChimp, so email are not processed by your WordPress site.

May 2016: Cognito Forms branding is completely removed from forms and emails on all of our paid plans. This was partially accomplished when we launched paid plans last year, and with our May release of our referral program, we have completed the process.
Feb 2015: We are currently working on paid plans and are considering this as an option for these plans. For the safety of our service, we must include this on our free plan, as we would otherwise be the target of overwhelming abuse by not nice people.
And in case you are wondering, all of the great features of Cognito Forms will remain free when we add paid plans in a couple of months. We will also continue to add tons of free features in the future. However, we have some upcoming features for organizations, like hiding this notice, that will require a paid plan.
