How can I set a character length for a number field? Additionally how can I set the character length of a text-box (Alpha/Numeric) field?
I have looked through documentation and attempted using a calculation to set this, but with no success.

I am a developer for Cognito Forms.
When using a phone field set to the US, your phone number will look like a line of numbers until you click out of the field.
Then field will then auto verify that all characters are numbers and that 10 characters have been added.
If you have fewer then 10 characters or have a non-numeric character you will receive an error message. This will only happen when the field is set to "US".
For phone fields set to international we do not have validation. This is because of the wide variation between phone numbers in difference countries. We are considering ways to incorporate validation for this, like using Google's phone number library.

Cognito Forms leverages .Net syntax for it's expression parsing. You would need to use the Int32.Parse or Decimal.Parse methods to convert the text value of the choice field to a number.
For example: If you had a form with 2 fields, one is a Currency field called Unit Price and then a choice field, called Quantity with options 1, 2, 3. You could then add a calculation field to the form with a calculation expression of =Decimal.Parse(Quantity) * UnitPrice

I am a developer for Cognito Forms. This is a feature that we are looking to add in a later release. Until that release we do not have a way to limit the length of a number field or a text field. You can follow the progress of this feature on our Idea Board.
