Cognito-forms – Subtracting hours

Trying to subtract two times. I have a time input box called Start Time and a time input box called End Time. Using a calculated field set to time =(EndTime-StartTime).TotalHours, I've tried .Hours as well. No matter how I write the calculation get the error "The expected type of this field is 'DateTime'"

I am a developer for Cognito Forms, I was able to reproduce this issue in our testing environment when the Calculation Type was set to 'Time'. In the settings for the Calculation Field try setting the Type to 'Number'. You are looking for a number value from the subtraction of the two times. You can continue to use either .Hours or .TotalHours.

You are very close to getting the calculation to work, AddDays takes an integer value and the value and what you were generating is a decimal value. You will need to add a little extra code to your Due Date calculation to get it running correctly.

=DateTime.Today.AddDays(Int32(CalculatedTime))

One other change I would make to your calculation in the CalculatedTime field would be to remove the quotation marks (") from around the numebrs, so your calculation looks like this:

=ProjectType = "Flyer: Up to 30 Products" ? 7 : ProjectType = "Flyer: Up to 60 Products" ? 12 : ProjectType = "Flyer: 60+ Products" ? 18 : 7

Cognito-forms – How to reference a field on a different section of a Cognito form

Tom, unfortunately you cannot reference fields from "sibling" or "parent" sections in Cognito Forms right now. We are working on enabling this, but it is a bit more complicated than it would seem at face value, factoring in our support for validation, intellisense, automatic renaming, repeating setions, etc. that is built into our calculation system. Plus, this introduces what is called a "circular reference" in the model for the form, which presents it's own unique issues (like the browser or server crashing if we get it wrong).
