Gmail Sorting – Is It Possible to Sort Emails by Criteria Other Than Date?

There isn't a way currently, and its infuriating. I had to create a completely seperate account to use the Android Marketplace, since Checkout will only accept a @gmail.com address and its painful to see that address on every Google service I use. Not to mention that it breaks some services (eg Wave) that have their own accounts data and only use the Google account name to link them up.

I know that there are big changes on the way for the whole way that Google does account management (the "more services in Apps" thing is part of it), but I'm not privy to all the details. I'll raise a ruckus about anything thats not fixed once they roll all that stuff out :)

Tags are meant for individual messages not threads. The reply will not have the label on it because you have not labelled the message as such. You will want to apply a filter to grab any new messages.

Turn off conservation view and you will be able to search by individual message.

Example filters that could work for your thread

Matches: from:(sender@gmail.com) to:(phwd@gmail.com) subject:(Blank Test) Do this: Apply label "To-Do"

Matches: from:(phwd@gmail.com) to:(sender@gmail.com) subject:(Blank Test) Do this: Apply label "To-Do"

With conversation view off, you should see both the sent message and received message using label:to-do and only the received items with label:to-do in:inbox
