On Facebook, I noticed that the comments and likes for a photo I checked in are not showing up on my profile but they display when I click into the photo.
How can I get them to display directly on my profile?

Are you referring to your News Feed (Top News), News Feed (Most Recent), or the Recent Activity on your profile?
I think that News Feed (Top News) only displays what Facebook considers to be most interesting to you, so I wouldn't expect your own likes/comments there. The News Feed setting that you mentioned applies to the Most Recent setting.
News Feed (Most Recent) does not display individual stories for comments and likes on posts; you would only see them under the corresponding post, if it is expanded. Are you saying that you expanded the likes/comments and you can see comments from other people but your comment is not there? Sometimes it takes some time for it to show up although it shouldn't take days (unless it was deleted).
If you are referring to the Recent Activity on your profile, there is an additional setting for that that you didn't mention. On your profile's Wall (not your News Feed), scroll to the bottom and click Edit Options. If you have hidden any kinds of stories from your Recent Activity these will be listed and you can unhide any of them by clicking the X and then Save.
As for the Photos tab, that used to be a known issue although the link to Facebook Help in that answer does not seem to work now. I don't know if that means that it should be fixed.
I believe this is one of those magic little boxes of Facebook. For example for me, the likes of the page you mention appears two boxes from the top (because I have friends who are fans of the page). It's most likely that the most used/related info gets pushed right and the recent information gets pushed left, though when there is not enough information the layout reorganizes.
Of course, this is all on the subset of pages I inspect, but this is as best you can get. I really don't believe this is something Facebook is willing to show how it works to prevent users gaming the system.
Summary: Based on the limited information I have, I believe the likes stay on the right and move down based on your friend activity related to the current page.

The likes and comments on the photo visible in your profile/timeline because of you being tagged there/checked in/you shared that photo is one thing.
And the likes and comments on the actual photo (in the Facebook Page or Facebook Profile of the actual up-loader) is a completely different thing.
When you click on the photo in your Profile/Timeline, you go to the kind-of-full-screen-view-of-the-actual-photo.
In your Profile/Timeline you will see only the likes and comments that people posted on the photo through your Profile/Timeline (by visiting your Profile/Timeline). Also these likes and comments are not added to the actual photo.
