How do I search for articles/posts on Facebook? I want to search in my friend's timeline but the top navigation search only limits to people, places and things.

Go into Privacy Settings → Timeline and Tagging | Edit Settings and set Who can post in your Timeline? to the appropriate value.
- Go to your Timeline
- Click on Activity Log
- Click All at the top of the page
- Click on Posts with Location
- Hide from Timeline all that shows in the list
To hide the map from favorites:
- Go to your Timeline
- Click on the arrow at the end of the favorites row
- Hover over the Maps box
- Click on the edit icon that appears in the upper-right corner of the box
- Click on Remove from Favorites

As to my knowledge you can't. I've tried this a few times, and the only way was to just scroll through until I found what I was looking for.
