When I use the FB search bar it always finds groups or pages, etc. I want to search stuff my friends have posted… for instance I remember last week someone posted or commented on a post about a flood. But searching for flood finds all kinds of global FB stuff, not results relevant to my friends.
Is this possible somehow, it kinda seems an obvious thing?
It appears there's no way to do this, unfortunately.
What I ended up doing was to do the going-forward arrangement, and then work back a couple of months, making corrections manually (#1). Better than nothing. There is also the issue of my comments on others' posts being visible. In my case, I think this is "good enough", though I do wish there was a better solution available (without programmering).
It might be possible to use the Facebook API to achieve this, but I didn't see anything ready-made with some quick searching.
Limit the audience for your past posts

After that recheck by viewing as a non-friend under the cog icon on your profile.
If you are still seeing posts as non-friends, go to the individual post and change the audience
