Recently when I have tried adding links to wall posts on Facebook I have gotten the following warning:
The privacy settings for this attachment prevent you from posting it to this Timeline.
What is causing this warning and is it possible to change the settings to allow link posting?
No, it's not possible. The permissions for a post come all together by the relation this person has to you (group/friend/etc.) - if you can see it, you can comment on it.
The option to disallow comments is available only for groups via the relatively new feature Turn off comments (something like that) for individual posts.
There is no way to disable the events wall specifically (the comments section under the event description). But you can disable people who arent invited from seeing the event all together by setting the event privacy to to 'Invite Only'
From the Event Page: Edit -> Privacy: Invite Only (you can also tick the option to allow people who are invited to invite other friends if you wish)

Click "Add Photo/Video", and then click back to "Write Post" and it will link fine!!!
