Gmail Filters – How to Forward All Emails Except from One Address

I just set up an email account for my daughter and as part of the deal for her getting an account is that I get copied on all email for the next year. I've easily set up the account to forward to me all email received.

What I would like to add to the filter is to not forward emails that come from my own address as I will obviously know what's in them.

Ideally I would also like to not forward emails where I'm cc'd (from my wife and grandparents or other family members).

Is this possible?

In her account you may turn off forwarding then create a filter from:-dad@gmail.com and check forward to dad@gmail.com

Sure, and it's pretty easy too:

Go to Gmail settings
Go to Accounts and Import Tab
Click on Send Mail from another address
Enter the Forward account address.
The email should send to that address which should forward back to your Gmail.
Complete the steps in the email.

When you send a new email you can now change the from address to your forward account.

If a filter with criteria * is working for you with the exception of the sent messages, you might try

* AND !is:sent

Alternately, see if your wildcard will cause received mail to fall within scope of the following

to:me

I don't know offhand if to:me triggers on your primary address, or uses a more comprehensive method of matching.

Incidentally, what are you trying to accomplish by starring all incoming messages? Some kind of "sticky" indicator of read/unread (or "handled") status?
